Sports Massage
All keen sports people have one thing in common, whether they are competitors, keep fitters, dancers or weekend skiers - they all constantly push their bodies to try to improve their performance. Sports massage can help with this:
- During training
Regular massage, using the therapist's understanding of the sport, will speed up removal of waste materials from the muscles, enhancing the quality of rest between training sessions. It can pinpoint and treat 'niggles' before they become injuries and, used regularly, lengthens muscles, improving flexibility and range of movement. This reduces the risk of injury, so you are less likely to miss training sessions. Sports massage is also extremely useful for people with physically demanding jobs. - Pre event
Deep tissue massage given in the day or two prior to an event. This is geared to the specific sport - skating clearly needs a different approach to snooker. - Post event
Use this massage session to soothe after an event. The improved circulation removes the build up of waste products and increases nutrition to the depleted tissues. You and your muscles deserve to relax and recuperate.
What you can expect in a sports massage session
- discussion on your general health, and the demands of your sport
- discussion on any problem areas you may have
- treatment specific to your sport
- follow on advice and review of your progress in subsequent treatments where necessary
